Baseball: Ocean City 15, Lower Cape May 9

A makeup game between two county baseball team's went Ocean City's way Saturday afternoon as the Raiders topped Lower Cape May in a slugfest, 15-9. The teams combined for close to 30 hits, but Lower Cape May pitchers walked close to 10 batters, leading Ocean City to the extra runs.

Both teams' records stand at 3-6 following the game, but the two teams appear as if they might be headed in different directions. Lower Cape May lost for the sixth time in seven games, while Ocean City won its third straight after starting the season 0-6.

In a rare occurrence in CAL scheduling, the teams will go back at it Monday afternoon in Ocean City.

In other breaking area sports news, Lower Cape May Regional graduate Matt Dicken, a running back at Division I-AA Villanova, has been named one of the Wildcats' team captains for the 2007 season.

More information will be available in this week's editions of the Gazette.
