WCBP's John Maloy win South Jersey title
The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol rookie lifeguard John Maloy captured the South Jersey swim title Friday night on Ventnor's beach as area beach patrols competed in the South Jersey Championships.
Maloy, a Wildwood Catholic High School graduate who will swim at Boston College this scholastic year, swam a perfect course in rough conditions to beat second-place Justin Rau of Atlantic City by an impressive 25 seconds.
Maloy became Wildwood Crest's first-ever South Jersey swim champion.
The host Ventnor Beach Patrol used a first-, second- and third-place finish in the three events to win the team championship.
