Weekend recap

Just recapping some of the local high school sports results from the weekend:

Lower Cape May's girls tennis team won the round robin tournament at the Historic Cape May Tennis Club Saturday morning. Lady Tigers Lindsey Stevenson, Megan Douglass and Alex Steiger won first through third singles, respectively, and Kym Douglass and Anna Reeves took first at first doubles. Wildwood Catholic's Lindsey Galle and Jeri Anne Gerace prevented a Lower Cape May sweep of the event by winning the second doubles competition.

Wildwood returned to varsity football for the first time since October 2004 Saturday afternoon and dropped a 43-0 decision at Wallington in Bergen County. Wallington's Alfred Tillerson ran for four touchdowns in the win, helping Wallington build a 29-0 halftime lead. Wildwood will play its first home game of the 2007 season Friday against Jackson Liberty, which lost 41-0 to Bridgeton in its season opener.

On Monday, one of the more anticipated boys soccer games of the season in the area is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Stone Harbor as Wildwood Catholic hosts Middle Township. We're hoping to have some video of the game, so be sure to check back later. The girls game between the two schools is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Boyd Street field in CMCH.

You'll be able to read more about all of these stories in this week's editions.
