New boys soccer coach at WCHS

One of the all-time greats from the Wildwood Catholic High School boys soccer program is returning to coach.

Mike Saioni, who helped lead Wildwood Catholic to great success in the 1990s, will return to his alma mater as the new boys soccer coach, school athletic director Sal Zuccarello announced Wednesday.

Saioni, who has college coaching experience, replaces George Salvesen, whose contract was not renewed for 2008 by the school. Casey O'Hara, a holdover from Salvesen's staff, and Kevin MacFarlane, the son of former legendary WCHS boys soccer coach Gerry MacFarlane, will serve as Saioni's assistants, Zuccarello said.
