Collingswood shuts down Middle

The Middle Township High School boys basketball team's season came to an end Friday night as the Panthers lost a South Jersey Group II semifinal at Collingswood, 58-34.

Collingswood scored the first 10 points of the game to take a a commanding early lead. Middle responded with a 7-0 spurt to get back in the game but its Colonial Conference foe was simply too strong and too athletic for the overachieving Panthers.

Leading by five after the first quarter, collingswood went on a 15-4 run over the course of the second period to build a double-digit lead it never relinquished.

Tom Salvesen scored 10 points for Middle (15-13), which made just 12 field goals for the game.

Collingswood moves on to play Cinnaminson in the South Jersey Group II final on Monday.
