Matt Szczur earns CAA all-star honors

Villanova University wide receiver Matt Szczur, a Lower Cape May Regional graduate, has been named a second-team all-star by the Colonial Athletic Association.

One of Villanova’s most versatile players, the sophomore ranks third on the team in both rushing and receiving and is the team’s backup kick and punt returner. As a wide receiver, Szczur has caught 28 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed 71 times for 426 yards and one touchdown, including a 96-yard rushing performance in Villanova’s 21-7 victory over Delaware in the team’s regular-season finale last weekend.

Villanova (9-2 overall, 7-1 CAA) will host Colgate in the first round of the NCAA Division I Championships Series (formerly Division I-AA) playoffs on Saturday.
