Raffa stars for Albany (with video highlights)
Anthony Raffa is already proving he can provide offense at the Division I level.
Raffa, the former Wildwood Catholic High School star, scored a game-high 22 points Saturday night to lead the Albany men's basketball team to a 73-63 over Penn last night in Albany. Raffa shot 7 for 14 from the floor, including 3 for 4 from three-point rage, and 5 for 7 from the foul line. He also added six rebounds in a team-high 33 minutes.
Brian Connelly, a former standout at Camden Catholic, added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the win.
Albany improved to 4-2 with the victory over the Big Five school. Raffa, who has started five of Albany's six games as a true freshman, is currently second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game. He also is tied for the team lead in free-throw percentage at 82.4 percent (14 for 17).
